It makes a noise for a sensitive ear, it's not exaggerated, but I made a good choice by buying it with the sensor so that it doesn't work continuously and only when they get close. I think that for people with sensitivity, that is the solution. So, if you want a fountain with a tap and have a keen ear, the sensor to activate it is absolutely essential.

Takes about 5 minutes to fully disassemble and clean. Everything is dishwasher safe except the pump. I clean it weekly and it stays sparkling. No weird smells or slime buildup.
